Why VariYoga?

Learn More About VariYoga – One Journey – Many Paths

VariYoga is a dynamic practice that recognizes ‘one size does not fit all’ and can be modified to meet the needs of the individual. The breath is used to link poses and sequences which range from gentle to vigorous, depending on individual ability. In addition, VariYoga includes an awareness of alignment, breathing techniques, and a philosophical understanding of Hatha Yoga.

“Goodness I have been overcome with thoughts and emotions after digging into your book. I had to move through the sequences last night before bed and was so amazed with the ease of which I enjoyed using the book. After getting your book again I want to see how I can amplify the power of VariYoga by representing it more fully. I’m not sure what that entails but I just had to reach out and thank you for the book.”

VariYoga Book by Andrea Fournet & Bryan Fowler – Great Yoga Therapy Practice

VariYoga is a safe, accessible, sustainable, adaptable yoga therapy practice throughout the changing seasons of our lives.

A Yoga Therapy practice with an open-minded teaching approach, created with respect and dedicated to helping all people discover the physical, emotional and mental health benefits of Yoga.  The foundation for the VariYoga style began in 2001. We began with the intention to present a practice that celebrates the diversity of yoga and is both accessible and sustainable.

I recently met the author of “VariYoga: One Journey, Many Paths” Andrea Fournet when she was in the Bay area visiting family and took my class. She was kind enough to give me a copy of the book she co-wrote with Bryan Fowler. I took some time to read through it and to practice with the straight-forward yoga practices the book offers. I really liked the book as a home practice book for a couple of reasons: 1) it is spiral bound, which makes it so easy to lay out on my mat and follow long with as I practice 2) the practices will be accessible to both beginners and more seasoned practitioners as well as new students to yoga who are older 3) the photos and bullet point descriptions are clear and understandable, and some modifications are offered.
